Fantastic Experience

We all greatly enjoyed our stay at the Racoon's Paw Lodge. Our party was 7 adults and 3 kids and there was plenty of room to accommodate us all. It was a very convenient to Sugar Mountain though I definitely can see why the 4WD would be a must during the winter months. We did not have any significant snow during our stay but the roads/driveway would have likely been treacherous if we had.
wonderful stay at a beautiful home!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Raccoon's paw lodge. Great location and house. Loved the downstairs pool table and hot tub. Only complaint would be that the beds could be bigger. They had fulls in 2 of the 4 rooms.

Xmas week

Cabin was great overall. Really nice layout for up six. More downstairs. Kitchen well equipped and house was decorated for Christmas, even a live tree. 4wd is a must if there is any snow, ice. Cabin is 1.5 miles up a steep, switchback road. NO PROBLEM without snow. Gated community so I'm sure road would be cleared ASAP. Internet and cable were very good. Did have a few issues. Guest bath had lots of hair in tub, shower from previous guest. Main bath could have been cleaner. Fireplace remote didn't work. Took awhile to find main switch inside unit. Dishwasher started leaking on 5th night. Holiday weekend so we just hand washed dishes and reported it at check out. Lots to do in the area. The Game Keeper is a must for dinner. Stonewalls is over rated for the $'s. Overall Raccoon's Paw is great place. We tried to book for next Xmas but already taken.
First Vacation in Two Years

The home was located within a private community. Great location to Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Linville, Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, etc. Winter or Summer there are many things to do and this home is near all of them. The home is very comfortable for large families and the game room would be great for the entire family. I would recommend this home if you are looking for privacy, views, comfortable furnishings, etc. Hope you enjoy your vacation as much as we did ours.

Fall Vacation

Our stay was at Raccoon’s Paw Lodge. We visit the mountains every fall to enjoy motorcycle riding with friends. Our lodge was very nice. The beds were comfortable and the home was very spacious and perfect for our group. The only thing I would say needed an update was pots and pans in the kitchen for cooking. We took advantage of the concierge service offered by the rental company, our groceries were delivered to the cabin and put away. This was very nice since we came on our motorcycles. I spoke with Amber at Valle Crucis many times before our arrival, over the course of the year. Amber was very professional, helpful and pleasant. She emailed me with answers to any questions I had. This lodge had all paved access, which made maneuvering motorcycles easy. We would definitely stay at this home again. The location was perfect and the area very peaceful and quiet!! Bridget~

We loved the house, the location and all that it had to offer. We felt that the team had gone the extra mile with cleaning in the current covid environment.
Great Family Getaway

Cabin is located in a gated community but very secluded. Great views and the sound of the nearby creek. Easy access to everything. Plenty of room for our family of seven. Don't miss the Ham Shoppe in Valle Crucis!! Best sandwiches ever! Beech Mountain Sking was a hit also.
Beautiful Location and views. Very clean.

Was very satisfied except the following:
Fire pit w/wood provided on website. When we arrrived,
the fire pit was gas and locked due repairs needed and was not advised this in advance. I called the office and was told had not been in service for 2 years??? My family was really dissapointed !
In our 5 day's could only use the dishwasher once due to it was leaking, when I called the office, i was told that the Gasket needed to be replaced again, so we had to wash dishes the entire time we were there. I know things happen without warning and I understand about the dishwasher but was somewhat disappointed about not being advised in advance of the Fire Pit.

Overall, the house was great. The view is great and the deck on the back is nice. However, One drawback was the long distance back into the development. Also, it advertises a fire pit but it is locked up and can’t be used. Other reviews suggest it hasn’t worked for a year. The owner should either fix it or quit saying it has one. The kitchen is sparsely equipped.

Susan, thanks for your comments and input. We are sorry that your stay was not as positive an experience as you thought it would be. Most guests appreciate the cabin location because it offers so much privacy but still not far from town. As far as the gas fire pit, it has not been in service for about eight years now. A past guest burned marshmallows which fell into the gas burners and destroyed them. We do not feature the fire pit in our description of the property and have not for a very long time. Thanks for your stay at Raccoon's Paw Lodge. Jim

This home is secluded with a beautiful mountain view. There are ample sleeping areas and bathrooms with a large deck. The living room and dining areas had seating for a big family. The pool table, hot tub and air hockey table provided a great deal of fun. This is a fabulous home in a beautiful and convenient location.

Disappointed

House is nice upon arrival. Overall decent stay. Beds were not comfortable at all. Very old decoration and a little spooky feeling. Upstairs loft was extremely hot but obviously due to the heat rising. Water from refrigerator was broken. Shower glass sliding door was very difficult and did not work properly. Down stairs play room air hockey table was practically unusable due to table being extremely worn out.
