Had a fabulous 5 weeks there. Loved the wrap around deck where we spent lots of time communing with nature. So much to do near by. Great to get out of the Florida Heat!

Love the cabin, have stayed for many years, problem is broken furniture. Chain in living room has been broke for years and is dangerous to sit in now.

Family had a wonderful time.

The cabin was exactly as listed. The location of the cabin was in the center of all the places we planned on going to. The cabin itself was in a nice quiet neighborhood. The cabin is geared more for adult guests unless you intend on bringing indoor activities for small children as there were no board games or stuff to do other than watch TV. There is very little yard to play in, but for adults it was fine. Luckily we celebrated our Christmas (owners chose not to have a tree in the cabin which was a first for us????) so our grandkids got to play with Christmas gifts.
We enjoyed the fireplace most of all. The kitchen cabinets were sort of stocked oddly, and we had a slight problem making dinners. They had dishes, and pots and pans galore, but mixing Bowles and serving dishes were few, but we managed. Oh, we did bring sharp knives from home as suggested by a previous reviewer.
I would rent this cabin again if it were just me and husband, but would avoid if we were bringing children and grandkids again.

Friend/Family Vacation Feb 2021

Great property with a nice open layout, great view and parking for at least 3-4 cars. For the cost this place was an incredible value. No hot tub, but that explains why not as expensive. Only a 15-20 minute drive to either downtown Boone or to Sugar Mountain to ski. The rental company was very easy to work with and very responsive. Easy process. Would highly recommend the place for a family of 4 or if have a few friends/couples that want to enjoy the mountains. The 2 full beds upstairs might be a little tight for a couple but I slept well as a single in the beds upstairs. King bed downstairs has a great layout and true master feel which is nice.

They need to tweak a few things, Internet was very unstable, furniture is in desperate need of replacement, the back two doors would not open, and the cookware also needed to be replaced.

Beautiful cabin in a beautiful location. It is close enough to everything that you want to go do, but it is far enough away to truly feel like you are getting away.

Second Time Around

Greg & Polly G. from Little River, SC
Stayed 8 days ending October 2019

Since we always take the 3rd week in October for our vacation week, we stay in Valle Crucis 80% of the time because my wife enjoys the Valle Crucis Fair. We have stayed once before in Fox's Lair & really enjoyed it so much we decided to have a second visit to this cabin. This time we were somewhat disappointed, the cleanliness of the cabin was not up to par like most of the cabin's we have rented over the years from this management company. Also, the furniture was the same furniture that had been in the cabin the first time we rented it 6-7 years ago, so it needs some attention as it is getting old. Also, the kitchen furnishings need some replacing as well. Bed linens & bed covers appeared to also be the same ones that were there many years ago. The Cabin floor plan is a beautiful layout, big rooms, very spacious, big open kitchen, and large wrap around porch. Our suggestion to the management company is talk with your cleaning crew, all of the things we saw should have been taken care of with a little more effort. The cabin's appointments need to be addressed to the owners, would not take much money to upgrade the furniture, bedding, & kitchen. Overall, we were really disappointed, left a day early & probably will not stay at Fox's Lair again.

What a wonderful place to stay! The cabin was beautiful and in a perfect place. It was secluded enough to enjoy the mountains but close enough to Boone and Valle Crucis to make traveling easy. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect Girl’s Weekend

We had an amazing weekend in the perfect setting. The cabin was beautiful and spotless when we arrived. The kitchen was well stocked. The beds were comfortable with big rooms. The fireplace was wonderful and the perfect place for us to pile up and enjoy our time together when the rain drove us indoors. It was way better than we expected and like being in our own treehouse.

Great location and value. This log cabin was just what we need and the valley it’s located in is just beautiful. The staff that helped us when we picked up our keys was just beyond reproach. Everything was about twenty minutes away which made it enjoyable for viewing and exploring. We will book in the future.

Lovely Cabin

Fox's Lair was a beautiful home located in a central location for restaurants, shopping and snow tubing. The cabin was very clean and offered plenty of room for relaxing and enjoying the mountains. The staff at Valle Crucis Log Cabin Rentals were always helpful when I made contact with them and answered all of my questions before and during our stay. I would definitely consider using the rental service again and would recommend Fox's Lair to anyone looking for a place to stay.

Disappointed in this property, Fox’s Lair

John M. from Newton Grove, NC
Stayed 7 days ending October 2020

We have been coming to Valle Crucis for 22 years because we love spending our vacations there. The management company is always so very nice and helpful and we have no problem with them at all. Fox’s Lair, however, needs quite a bit of attention and upgrading. 1. The lighting in this house is awful. We had to turn on every light in order to see well. Even the lights in the master bathroom over the sink needs more wattage. 2. The den furniture, as my husband stated a couple of times to management, should be thrown in the dump. The recliner is badly broken, one of the couches is ripped, and both couches are very badly worn. 3. The recessed lights in the kitchen area are so very small and they should be replaced by larger ones. It is very hard to see in there. 4. The light switches should be labeled so visitors will know which switches turn on which lights. 5. One of the Adirondack chairs had a broken “arm”. The mats on the deck should be replaced. If you are going to rent your house then little things like mats should not be ragged and very much used. 6. There were no dish cloths in the house to wash dishes or wipe down counters. We had to buy some. 7. We had no idea how to operate the tv in the den. Instructions should be left explaining how to get to programs. Some of us who rent these houses are not the younger generation who was born knowing how to operate some of this new technology. As I said , we have no problem with Log Cabin Rentals’ management. They are wonderful but this house needs a lot of attention.
