The two-story cabin is nestled into the trees next to Pigeon Roost Creek and sits at an elevation of 4200 feet. The cabin is built of white pine logs in the traditional manner of these mountains. The interior is well appointed with weathered chestnut. A Vermont Castings fireplace/stove stands on a hearth constructed from old bricks and barn timbers. The upstairs bedroom has a king-sized bed, a sitting area, and a bath with an antique tub. A bedroom window opens to the sound of water falling over rocks. The wrap-around porch overlooks the creek. Guests enjoy a private, creek-side grove amidst large granite outcroppings with picnic table and a hot tub next to the creek. Pigeon Roost Road is a premiere bicycle road. The road is a loop that offers beautiful views and almost no traffic. It departs from and connects to Highway 194, the scenic route between Valle Crucis and Banner Elk. From this area, bicyclists can explore miles of seldom-traveled backcountry roads that meander through high meadows and forests. |
